Community and Charitable Service


The Chelko Consulting Group believes in serving the community

We are fortunate to make our living doing the work we enjoy - helping our clients better manage their health, life and disability plans. In addition to serving our clients on a for-profit basis, we believe it is our responsibility (as a firm and as individuals) to volunteer our time, talent and "treasure" to serve the broader community. We do this through active involvement in a variety of charitable and professional organizations and events.

Examples of our volunteer work include:

Charitable

  • Annual participation the Salvation Army's Coats for Kids event at the Cleveland Convention Center.
  • Annual fundraising and participation in the "Light the Night" event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
  • Annual work as "Breakfast Buddies" (phone bank) to support WCPN's (public radio) fundraising drives.
  • Annual work as phone bank volunteers and data entry support to the annual "Share Campaign" for WCRF (part of the Moody Broadcasting Network).
  • Ongoing service on the Investment Advisory Committee for In His Steps Foundation, a multi-million dollar Christian Community Foundation based in Northeast Ohio.
  • Repeatedly volunteered at and supported many fundraising events for local youth ministries, such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life and Youth for Christ.
  • Volunteer participation in the annual Phi Kappa Tau Haunted House benefiting Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang (terminally ill children).

Professional

  • Rick Chelko serves as an officer of the Cleveland Chapter of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network, an organization with a mission to increase the knowledge and expertise of area benefits professionals (employer representatives, attorneys, consultants, brokers and service provider representatives). In this capacity, Rick has organized and directly participated in a number of widely attended educational meetings on leading practices in group health plan management. Our staff also facilitates the registration of all WEB events and associated continuing education accreditation for insurance professionals.
  • Rick also volunteers and Chairs the Programming Committee for John Carroll University's Entrepreneur Association. This is an organization dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship and business in the Cleveland Area.
  • Rick is a member of the area Steering Committee for the Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI), a group dedicated to equipping Christian CEOs and business owners in their leadership roles.
